Description
A wood anniversary gift for evenings together
For a partner who loves chess, a handsome wooden set is a gift with an immediate invitation attached: put the kettle on, clear the table and enjoy a game together. This A&A set brings natural walnut and traditional Staunton pieces to a familiar pastime.
It suits an anniversary especially well because it can become part of your shared routine. A few games over a quiet weekend, or an ongoing challenge across the kitchen table, give the present a life beyond the day it is unwrapped.
A folding board with useful storage
The board measures 15 inches across, approximately 38 cm, with 1.6-inch squares. The king is 3 inches tall. Two extra queens are included for pawn promotion, and the magnetic pieces help keep the position in place when the board is moved.
Inside the folding board are individual spaces for storing the pieces. Small supporting brackets help the open board lie flat during play, and a storage bag is included. Folded, the set is easier to put away between games or take on a weekend away.
Make time for the first game
Pair it with a handwritten invitation to an anniversary evening at home, complete with your partner’s favourite drink or supper. It is a thoughtful traditional wood gift for an experienced player, or for a couple who would enjoy learning a new shared hobby.
